MY JOURNEY IN PHOTOGRAPHY
Hello ! I am Saurav. I live in West Bengal, India. I started photography as a hobby, but with time, it became a passion. I like to travel and photograph people and their environment. This site is not really meant as a showcase for my photography; rather it is a means for me to express my feelings through my lens. Please feel free to criticise, comment or suggest any thing.
In my other life, I am an assistant professor of biotechnology in Kolkata. I started learning photography back in the 1980s when I was given a Pentax SLR. After a break of about a decade and half, I found back my first love and started clicking again. My interest in this field usually revolves around landscape, photojournalism, environmental portraiture and street. My photos can be seen at Viewbug where I was selected as one of the top 10% most popular photographer for 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and also at Natgeo daily dozen, Pixoto, and youpic.
While at heart I believe that no lens is as good as the eyes and no sensor is as accurate as the brain provided to me at my birth, I feel a compulsion to record a scene to tell the lovely story that was associated with the picture. For me, it has become a passion rather than a mere hobby.
PHOTOGRAPHY AS COMMUNICATION
I like to view the world around me from different angles, the hidden touch of sorrow or humour in an otherwise serene face, the play of light and shadow and colour, I use my camera to document the world with a focus on the magic I find in daily life. I always try to tell a story through my pictures because it is my passion.
